When you are have your career site or job pages up and running there are some simple yet very effective ways of communicating with both your job seeker readership and your existing employees. These three methods are key to making your site a success.
1.RSS
You will no doubt have seen this on many websites - it is called RSS (or Really Simple Syndication), and it is a direct feed to the post, page, website etc that contains your latest jobs or news items. It means that job seekers can subscribe to your career site, using an RSS reader, and never miss the latest jobs or news that you post on the site.
2. Newsletters
Newsletters are a fantastic way of keeping people informed of what is happening with your company. Obviously you first have to obtain their email address, but with a career site that shouldn't be too difficult as you will have people applying for jobs by email! It is a good way of reaching out to certain types of candidates as new roles are about to go live, and also to encourage referrals outside of your company.
3. Private Social Networking Site
Private Company Networks. This is a private social network just for your company and can be set up very simple - it can combine a bulletin board, communication channel, referral channel and internal blog all on one platform. It allows just your employees to become part of a communication network. Very powerful and simple to set up.
All these three methods of communication to current and prospective employers are all very powerful and as an employer with a career site you should be using all three!!
